As a result of the project, both the working conditions of employees and the learning opportunities of students were significantly improved. The aforementioned helped to increase the competitiveness of the school located away from the largest centres of Estonia. Thanks to better learning conditions, the reputation of the school and the vocational education on the whole improves. All of the aforementioned is a direct prerequisite for the growth of the number of students and thereby residents in the respective area.

Results of Project

  • B and C units of the academic building were established.
  • Units were furnished and equipped with contemporary technology.
  • The building has mobility options also for people with a mobility disability.
  • The attractiveness of vocational education being offered has increased, and learning taking place in new conditions with new equipment meets the contemporary needs in terms of quality.


 

Reconstruction of Seminari St. 1 school building and its vicinity

With the help of the project, the oldest building in the city of Viru under heritage protection was restored, and the extension located next to it built from silicate bricks in the 1960s was replaced with a contemporary and student-friendly academic building.
The building received a beautiful exterior where the old matches the new – the buildings were tied into a uniform whole with a three-storey glass gallery.
The school has been operating as a so-called pure gymnasium as of autumn 2015.  251 students start their studies in September 2016.

Võru Gymnasium was one of the five candidates to be selected for the final round of the Construction Project of the Year and was recognised as a nominee for the Construction Project of the Year 2014/2015.
Võru Gymnasium was named a nominee of the Concrete Building of the Year 2015.
The National Heritage Board recognised it as a “Well-restored monument” in 2015

Results of Project

  • As a result of the great school reform, two schools, Võru I Primary School and Võru Kreutzwald Gymnasium, were closed and Võru Gymnasium (so-called pure gymnasium) and Võru Kreutzwald School (primary school) were established.
  • As part of the project, elementary grade floor of the Võru Kesklinna School was restored for the Seminar St. 1 school building and shower rooms were built.
  • Former manor building located at Seminari St. 1 was restored, a soviet extension was demolished, and a new extension that takes the needs of the new school into consideration was built.
  • With the help of the project, new contemporary furnishings were purchased for Võru Gymnasium.


 

Renovation and fit-out of the student housing of Vana-Vigala Technical and Service School

The former fully depreciated student housing has become a contemporary student housing renovated with quality, the fit-out of which enables carrying out extracurricular activities to any target group with quality and in a contemporary manner.

The student housing has rooms adapted specifically to serve as living quarters and teaching social coping to students with moderate intellectual disability, which is very important for the school.

Results of Project

  • As a result of the project, the student housing was fully renovated.
  • In order to reduce the energy consumption of the building, new windows and doors were installed and the facade and roof were insulated.
  • All new communications, electricity, heating, ventilation and water supply were built. Solar collectors were installed. on the roof to produce hot water during the non-heating period.
  • In total, 332 of accommodation places for students with all modern conveniences together with different opportunities for spending free time were established.
  • A computer class was built in the building to assist the learning of subjects.
  • Contemporary learning bases for the subject of car repairs (in total, four workshops), for the subject of construction and woodworking (three workshops) and for the subject of handicraft (one workshop).
