Offering development opportunities for young people with the help of the SPIN-programme
Funds appointed to project:
The SPIN-programme offers development opportunities for young people through a novel model that combines football and activities developing social skills. SPIN enables several hundred young people in Tallinn and as of September 2016 in Kohtla-Järve to participate in football training sessions coached by coaches of top clubs and workshops hosted by specialists every week. The special nature of SPIN consists of its wide cooperation network – both the state and the local government, the Police and Border Guard Board, Estonian Football Association, Good Deed Foundation and schools participate in the implementation. Scientists of the University of Tartu help to assess the social impact of the programme. As a result of a joint effort, the SPIN-programme has become an important link in the chain child-school-home. In addition to developing athletic activity, current action has brought about plenty of examples of improved self-discipline, communication skills and school success of the participants.
Results of Project
- Over the first two seasons, 417 young people participated in the SPIN-programme.
- More than 30 organisations who shared their knowledge and experiences worked with young people.
- More than 20 schools benefited from the activity of the programme.
- Following the second season, 92% of the participants deemed the programme to be “good” or “very good”.
- The nonprofit organisation Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations (NENO) elected SPIN to be the best nonprofit organisation of the year.
